The Chaffey-Garcia House
The first task undertaken by the Society was saving the Chaffey-Garcia House. By negotiating with all parties involved, the house was able to be moved to its current location. This task was accomplished in 1984.​

In 1881, George, Jr. and William acquired land in what is now known as Rancho Cucamonga from Portuguese ship captain Joseph Garcia. He saw tremendous potential in the foothills of the mountains from which a broad alluvial fan encouraged thinking about how to develop the area into agricultural plots of ten acres with irrigated water brought from Day, Etiwanda and East Canyon. The first community the brothers created was Developed on 2,500 acres, the community’s key was the tapping of the waters from the local canyon. The brothers, George, Jr., in particular, utilized their talents for engineering to bring a reliable water system to the area. ~ Australian Dictionary of Biography with updates by Marsha Banks.
​A Living Museum~

​The Chaffey Garcia House was built in 1874 and is located at 7150 Etiwanda Ave. It is curated to show how the Chaffeys' would have lived in the home.

House tours are available every 2nd Saturday of the month from 9 AM - 1 PM. As well as by special request. If you would like a private group tour please email: TheEtiwandaHistoricalSociety@gmail.com
There is a $20 min for up to 5 guests. Each additional guest is $5 per person.

Your tour will include a guided walk through of both the home and barn. Plan to be on-site for a minimum of 1 hour. As tour times may be extended depending on which docent is available.
You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy our grounds.
